These do not constitute a 'How To' guide, but provide guidance on various aspects of organising an event, from working on mental wellbeing issues in primary care to securing successful media coverage for your event.

NMHW2006 Register of Events

The link above will contain all the responses from the MHF's efforts to find out what is being planned prior to NMHW itself. This will be made live prior to NMHW, all those who register will receive confirmation when this has been completed. The entries will be collated geographically providing an important resource as to what is happening in each area of England and Wales. This also enables networking and support at a local level, as well as being vital PR resource, enabling the media to identify key activity at local and regional levels.

Southwark Men's Health Programme

 

 

 

Southwark is offering a range of services and opportunities to improve the health of men in the borough including MOTs, sports and fitness activities such as circuit training and kayaking, parks based activities such as football, cricket and gardening, cooking and healthy eating and stress and anger workshops. Australian Men's Health Week Resource Pack

This is a very useful resource pack developed by Men's Health Information and Resource Centre (MHIRC) at the University of Western Sydney.. The pack contains a broad range of factsheets that can be easily printed off and distributed.

Concern and Confidentiality

A study from Papyrus which explored how GPs would manage the difficult task of responding both to a distressed young person who might be at risk of suicide and their parents. Produced in conjunction with researchers at the University of Hull.

Toolkit: Mental Health Promotion in Primary Care

The toolkit has been developed from the Tyne and Wear Health Action Zone Toolkit for mental health promotion and practice teams which was written by Dr Maryanne Free and Dr Dave Tomson. The toolkit introduces new information on mental health promotion; supports assessment of current practice and prioritising and planning new service developments.

The Primary Mental Health Care Toolkit

Designed for primary care educators, facilitators and others with development roles, and for primary care teams who want to take a systematic approach to the provision of primary mental health care. The toolkit includes templates, assessment and screening tools, advice on offering psychological help, information on audit and a list of resources. Promoting Mental Health: Concepts, Emerging Evidence, Practice

This report from the WHO aims to bring to life the mental health dimension of health promotion. The promotion of mental health is situated within the larger field of health promotion, and sits alongside the prevention of mental disorders and the treatment and rehabilitation of people with mental illnesses and disabilities.

Mental Health Promotion Tool Kit

The Mental Health Promotion Tool Kit was produced in 1999 by the Canadian Mental Health Association, National Office. The kit is a comprehensive guide for communities that wish to undertake mental health promotion initiatives. It contains everything anyone would need to know about implementing a mental health promotion program, including examples, strategies, tips and tools.

Our colleagues in New Zealand have kindly sent us this link, to the resource pack they produced to support their mental health week.
