Alongside its other Department of Health Strategic Partners, the Men’s Health Forum is organising an event to enable the third sector to respond to the Marmot review.
‘Marmot and the Third Sector: Addressing health inequalities together’ will take place at the Congress Centre in central London on 9 March. It offers a unique opportunity to learn about the implications of the review for the third sector and to respond directly to Sir Michael Marmot about his review, due to be published on 11 February. (It will be available for download from www.ucl.ac.uk/marmotreview)
The meeting will be opened by the minister for public health Gillian Merron MP and keynote speakers include Professor Sir Michael Marmot himself and Mike Farrar, the chief executive of NHS North West.
Contact Áine Duggan at the MHF for further details.
Meanwhile, the chief medical officer Sir Liam Donaldson has called for entries to his Public Health Awards.
The scheme, designed to acknowledge the efforts of those working to improve the health of the nation and celebrate innovative and successful public health initiatives began last year. 'I was delighted by the success of the inaugural awards,' said Sir Liam. 'We had a number of strong entries last year, and I would encourage anyone working in the field of public health to enter.'
The closing date is Wednesday 24 February. The panel of judges will be announced soon. Full details on the DH website.
