Age UK are working with NHS England & Improvement (and us, amongst others) to gather a range of examples where voluntary organisations have had a positive impact on people who experience health inequalities. For obvious reasons, we're keen they include some male-targeted organisations.
What are they looking for?
They are looking for people that fall into at least one of the following groups who have been positively supported by a VCSE organisation to improve their health and wellbeing:
- The ageing population
- People of all ages living with multi-morbidity and/or moderate to severe frailty in all care settings
- Residents of care homes
- Those with health needs due to COVID-19
The case studies will focus on the individuals themselves and use the storytellers own words and will look to explore the impact that particular health inequalities have on their experiences and health as well as the impact VCSE organisations have had on addressing their health and care needs. The ask is deliberately broad so that we can capture a wide range of people and voluntary organisations.
How to submit a casestudy?
Please complete the form below with some information about the storyteller and the support that has been provided by the VCSE organisation - they will automatically be sent to Jenny Lippiatt at Age UK. jenny.lippiatt@ageuk.org.uk. Please get in touch if you have any questions.
Next steps
Age UK will review all case studies submitted to them but it is unlikely they will be able to choose all of them to develop into resources.
After selecting case studies we will be in touch to organise the next steps which will start with an interview with the storyteller. We appreciate that in some cases it may be better for the interview to be conducted by someone familiar and so we are very happy for organisations to conduct their own interviews and will be able to support with a topic guide and tips.
Things to think about
Will the storyteller you are putting forward be comfortable sharing their story on a large platform?
These case studies will be made available on the Age UK website and shared through various channels, there is likely to be a mixture of filming options and photography options. Once we are in touch with storytellers we will ensure that they are aware and feel comfortable with how their story will be used at all stages as well as keeping you informed.
